Thimbles & Bells

The thimbles and bells are an oddity, they were produced by Birchcroft China in Stoke-on-Trent and were advertised as 'Enchantica Thimbles' when sold through Ebay.

It is claimed that 'they are original designs produced by their own artist and were produced around 1980 - 1985 in a limited edition of 250 sets' but Enchantica wasn't introduced until 1988, Mezereon was released in '94 and the first artwork of him was released in '91 but the thimble art is definitely from the piece not the earlier art, it is also claimed by the person who told me the above that 'It could be that they copied us because I was originally Phil Holland's Landlord when he first started his business and rented him the premises where he started Holland Studios. He quickly outgrew this and within a year he had moved to larger premises'

How true any of the above is I don't know and I am staying impartial, but I have put this information up for people to make up their own minds

The Wizard Thimble - Notice that it is identical to the Mezereon piece EN2091 that was released in 1994

The Dragon Thimble - this looks very similar to the 2nd edition Grawlfang EN2068 that was released in 1993 but this is in red not the white and blue of Grawlfang.

The Unicorn Thimble - No unicorns are in the Enchantica range so no comparison can be made but there is the 'Fables' range.

All the thimbles have the stamp inside as shown below
