OTHER INFORMATION |
Head designer & sculptor Rob Simpson made a special one off of this Andrew Bill piece with fibre optics going to some of the skulls eyes so it could be lit from underneath with the hope of it being released like this but it proved to costly. for more info on the fibre optic piece, see the bottom of this page. (The Photos on this page are of the fibre optic Hellbender as it was painted much better than the production version so photograghs better - see the comparison photo lower down this page) |

Fibre Optic Version
Head designer & sculptor Rob Simpson made a special one off of this Andrew Bill piece with 26 fibre optics going to some of the skulls eyes so it could be lit from underneath with the hope of it being released like this but it proved to costly. Rob had to hold all the fibres in place and then pour the resin into the mould very carefully
I display this piece on a stand taken from a fibre optic globe and I removed the fibres so that I could stand Hellbender on the base which changes colours so when viewed in the dark the eyes glow red, white, green blue and purple which is very eerie indeed
-----------------------------------------------------
Looking at the base you can see the 26 separate fibre optic's that lead to the eyes in the various skulls also the writing 'Optic Test Piece' and 'No. 1 of 1'
You can just see the fibre optics in this close up of the skulls
Production Hellbender and Fibre Optic Hellbender side by side
As you can see it looks very spooky especialy with the red eyes
(sorry the animation wobbles a bit, I'll try to redo it sometime)
250k
This isn't the only piece to be done with fibre optics, one of the spirits of the crystals 'Brimstone' was also treated in the same way as a trial
