OTHER INFORMATION

Originally this piece was to be called 'KRAALL' and to be in sepia colours also it was to be an open edition but things changed. Also the early pieces in sepia colours that were shown in the club newsletter No.18 had a slightly different base to the later production pieces, the diameter of the base was smaller and looked like wood (like the candlestick it's self) but an extra ring was sculpted around the base to make it more stable (to see side by side comparison pictures scroll to the bottom of this page) Also, in the collectors club Newsletter No.20 a picture of the candlestick was shown in the release colours but still with the original base.

A batch of these sepia Candlesticks were already made and so not wanting to lose money on them, they were sold to the American distributer Munro who sold them as a limited numbered run of 165 pieces (seperate from the 2,950 run) they also came without any kind of certificate.(pictures on below)

As well as the base difference, the top was slightly different too as the prototype had a slightly thicker rim so it could not take as big a candle as the production piece

Part of a proposed 'Home Decor' Range that never took off

Also note the very poor choice of EN number, it is slap bang in the middle of all the collectors club and show pieces

Two more Candle Holders were sculpted by Craig but they were never released - Click here to see Small or here for Medium holders

Two Oil Burners were also sculpted by Craig that were never released - Click here to see Small or here for Tall burners

This piece came with the card folder type certificate

Below is one of the prototype candlesticks in sepia colours with the original base

Below you can see the altered base, on the original you can see the wood grain like on the rest of the candlestick but on the released version a collar was added to make the base wider and more stable

Here are a few side by side comparison photo's

On the picture below you can see that the prototype had a thicker rim at the top

On the picture below you can clearly see difference in the size of the bases

Below is the very original wooden candlestick that was turned by John J. Woodward, this is the original that Craig Davison sculpted the dragon around
The sepia candleholder in these two photos is owned by 'woodlandfae' and I own the wooden original

The piece is owned by collector Liv Rainey who also took the photos and as such she owns the ©copyright to them - used with kind permission - the candle came with the piece and in the second photo you can see '149/165' wrote on the base showing that it was part of the limited run
