EN2144 - Battle For Freedom

 BATTLE FOR FREEDOM

The fires burned well on this bitter winter’s night, as Myelok, an old elf storyteller, told us all the story of the final battle, that freed our people of the deadly Voorlock….

It was a bountiful time!  The Northern Elven folk were in their prime and yet a deadly shadow fell upon us, the Voorlok.  Created by Mezereon himself, they fed on Elven blood, they ravaged our towns and villages and killed many of our young fearless warriors until, through hunting down the Voorlok, only one now remained, the deadliest, cunningest dragon, the end of this beast would surely mean freedom and many a song would be sang in honour of the warrior which took its life….

It was left to a young elf to take the challenge, certain victory would indeed make his family proud and a pick of young Elven maids to be his betrothed.  However the Voorlok was cunning and would not give an easy victory, many had faced him and many did not live to tell.  A few days had passed and the young elf had travelled to a neighbouring forest, yet little did he know that evil eyes were watching, waiting to strike….

Without warning or hesitation the Voorlok struck, knocking the elf’s steed to the ground, with his legs now trapped he fought off valiantly the dragons numerous attacks with his trusty sword, deadly talons ripped the air, their only mark was a shaft of steel….

The battle seemed like hours, the dead steed bore heavily upon the elf’s legs as the Voorlok swooped in for its kill.  The elf, now very tired, raised his sword towards the path of the dragon and in a single moment pierced the heart of the attacker.  The Voorlok slumped before him, yet in just that short moment, a single talon had reached its goal, the elf shouting to his forefathers to receive him slowly ebbed away….

The final battle must be told to all my friends, for its very story binds us together, it is who we are, go tell it to your bretheren and sing, sing to the honour of this elf for he indeed saved us all….

This was the Annual piece for 2000

This piece came with the card folder type certificate

The photos below were taken by fellow collector Philip Brown of his "Battle for Freedom" which although appearing to be fixed together perfectly, the dragon leans precariously over more than usual as though the piece "sagged" as you can see, the wing tip virtually touched the floor.

Collector Philip Brown bought another piece for comparison in the photos that he took below
