ZADRATUS

SEARCHER OF THE SUNSTONE

Many have told of a jewel of all jewels whose colour and radiance could only be matched with the sun itself.  Indeed many believe that this very jewel was given by the sun which fell from the sky to light the way through troubled times.  Its splendour was unmatched and was coveted as might a holy relic until the time came for it to be stolen.  This heinous act was met with great disbelief for none could be suspected of taking something so sacred.  A quest had begun to undertake the return of the sunstone.  Years had passed and many who had left families to join on this venture never returned.  Until one day, upon his deathbed, a soldier of the order of the sunstone told a tale of a dragon known as Zadratus, to whom the stone had originally belonged.  In his remaining breaths he described how Zadratus had flown from Dragongorge in search of this stone, capturing many of the people looking for this sacred prize to find out what they new and once they had confessed all, they were never heard of again.  The old warrior spoke of the devastation that followed, whole villages lain to waste, fortresses attacked indeed, merchants caravans cast to the four winds.

Then as quickly as it had begun the devastation ceased.  True people still lived in fear of Zadratus but reports of him had suddenly stopped.  Did he eventually find the sunstone?  Or did the jewel ascend as some thought it had fallen?  No one knows.  But to this day some still claim allegiance to a brotherhood known as the sunstone alliance.
