EN2358 - Hexerne
Hexerne
“I’ve never dreamt anything like it before,” she said softly.
“It was so real.”
Before me, there rose a long, glowing flight of crystal steps, and at the summit, a single throne, bathed in the brightest shaft of blueish light.
I began to climb the long stairway, and as I did I noticed that I was no longer wearing the drab garb of an ale-wench, I was dressed in a long, queenly robe of shimmering white silk and furs. Soft slippers embroidered with pearly were on my feet, and my hair, rich and shiny with well being, was threaded with silver.
As I climbed the steps the air began to glitter with tiny snowflakes, they floated all around me like soft tufts of down, turning and tumbling, and sparkling like tiny stars as they caught the light.
As I reached the last step, streaks of blue lightening began to flicker through the frozen fabric of the throne. I turned to look back into the immense reach of the bright cavern, and for the first time I saw that it was filled with a pale multitude; all of them silent, expectant.”
Hexerne’s jubilant tones suddenly dropped.
“And then I awoke, and I was here in this dark stinking hovel! My beautiful robes replaced with dirty peasant rags!”
