Re-Paints, Artist Proofs & Paint Your Owns

This is an artists proof / paint trial of Waxifrade and is painted in more muted colours than the production piece

(My initial thoughts were that this was lot number 17 from the 1997 Extravaganza auction because the date on the bottom of the piece and the description of the piece is perfect, but the list I have for the 1997 auction lists lot 17 as a 2nd edition Waxifrade not a 1st edition so either the list is wrong or this isn't lot 17, we may never know!)
