Re-Paints, Artist Proofs & Paint Your Owns

I broke this Snarlgard piece a few years ago and chipped a piece out of the wing, I bought a replacement with the intention of repairing the wing and repainting the base myself but the replacement piece I got had a very pale base so I was reluctant to paint the darker one which I prefered so I never did anything with it. I recently got another piece with a better base so this gave me the opportunity to do what I've always wanted to do and add some colour to the base.

I've always loved this piece because of all the detail on the base, but no matter how I much I like it I still wanted to see what it was like fully painted in colour

The plan was to send it to Tina Sherratt to repaint the whole piece, I then decided that I wanted to paint the base myself but didn't want to tackle the dragon so I'd just let Tina do the dragon for me, still in autumn colours but in her style. I then painted the base and realised that I didn't want to do much to the dragon so I did some shading on the head, repainted the mouth, eyes, horns and claws with better detail and just did a little bit of subtle shading of the spines down the back and tail.

Slain Goblins, I turned the bow carrying one into a flag bearer

Two slain Goblins, the lower one has more of an Ice Troll face to it but since it is much smaller than the main Ice Troll on the piece I painted it as a goblin

This is the Ice Troll called Bolg. Andrew Bill sculpted Ogrod and years later Joseph Bailey sculpted Bogra but Bolg, the third Ice Troll from the novels hasn't been made as a stand alone piece so this is the only representation we have of Bolg but it is a nice scene that is taken straight from the first novel "Wrath of the Ice Sorcerer" where Bolg is mocking Snarlgard and throwing rocks at him but Jonquil slits the bottom of the sack of rocks (sack and rocks clearly seen next to Bolg) which distracts the troll enough to give Snarlgard the opportunity to kill Bolg

In the first novel which this scene is from, Jonquil gets ahold of a goblin helmet and some armour to disguise himself as he crawls over the slain bodies of goblins, trolls and ice demons, this crawling figure isn't really meant to be Jonquil but as the clothes look right I decided to paint it as him.

Below are a few shots that were taken as "in progress" photos

Firstly just Bolg the Ice Troll and his axe were painted to see how it would look, if this hadn't come out well I would have sent it to Tina to paint for me but I was pleased with the result so I carried on
