Re-Paints, Artist Proofs & Paint Your Owns

This is an early artists proof paint trial of 'Earth' which I own and it is completely different to the production version, it was painted by Caroline Briggs
I like this piece better from the front but the production piece better from the back

The two pictures below show the early paint trial and the production piece bases together. You can see that when Royal Doulton/HSC were going to release it, it was dated 2003 and limited to 1,950, this changed when it was finally released by Xystos instead, it got redated as 2005, reference to Holland Studio Craft was removed and it's now limited to 950

There are a number of differences which I didn't notice until I was taking photos, firstly the tail is twisted a different way at the end and the secondly the wings are lifted higher up on the original, they hang a lot lower on the production piece.
