Re-Paints, Artist Proofs & Paint Your Owns

This is an early artists proof paint trial of 'Water' which I own, it's completely different to the production piece and is more winter colours but I like it, it was painted by Caroline Briggs

The two pictures below show the early paint trial and the production piece bases together. You can see that when Royal Doulton/HSC were going to release it, it was dated 2003 and limited to 1,950, this changed when it was finally released by Xystos instead, it got redated as 2005 (in a different position too), reference to Holland Studio Craft was removed and it's now limited to 950

There are a number of differences which I didn't notice until I was taking photos, firstly the tail is twisted a different way at the end and the secondly the wings are lifted higher up on the original, they hang a lot lower on the production piece.

Below is the official photo of the paint trial, notice how much whiter it is compared to the pale blue as shown above but I must admit to prefering how it looks in the photo below.
