GEMINA
Twin dragons are not as rare as you might think. Two fearsome creatures
spawned in the same egg, not always identical but invariably troublesome if left
together. Most wizards avoid them for they are hard to subjugate, ownership
tends only to appeal to the feckless and the wicked.
Gemina
A
single embryo that is commanded by nature to divide itself into two independent
creatures will give rise to siblings with almost supernatural affinity. As it is
with any other being, so it is with dragons. Wizards tend to separate them soon
after hatching, for a twin sibling always disrupts the training and sours the
temperament of the other. Gemina was a she-dragon once owned by Jemellus, a twin
himself of course - that may explain the attraction a little - her dragon twin
Geminus was in the possession of the dark sorcerer's twin brother Skelestus. The
male dragon Geminus was fiery and proud, Gemina, his sister, normally placid and
responsive when apart from her sibling. Together they were quite ungovernable,
each seeming to inspire the very worst behaviour in the other. When they were
not engaged in raging confrontation, each twin would spur the other on to lavish
displays of volcanic violence. Ironically it was the normally tranquil Gemina
that committed the gravest excesses when enraged, only calming again when
Skelestus finally managed to reassert control over her brother and spirit him
away from her.
Geminus
Arrogant and splendid Geminus was one of
twins. Twin dragons, it is said, attract those least suited to their keeping,
and so it was with Geminus and his twin sister Gemina, for they became the
possessions of the dark sorcerers Jemellus and Skelestus: themselves twin
brothers.
Apart the dragon siblings were manageable, each according to their
own natures. Geminus was fiery and proud; Gemina, placid and amenable. In their
twin's company, however, they behaved as all twin dragons will, inciting and
encouraging each other, and yet, at the same time treacherous and conniving;
cooperating, when it suited them, to wreak chaos about themselves.
Geminus,
the male dragon, was, ironically, the weaker twin and always tired first,
invariably the easier to ensnare when his anger was spent. However, the cure for
his sister Gemina's wrath, was to forcibly remove him from his sisters presence,
this was the only way to quieten her. Jemellus and Skelestus shared many
characteristics with their dragon charges and despite the difficulty of their
keeping, secretly enjoyed the twin dragons tempestuous meetings.
