OTHER INFORMATION

The first colour trial by Tina Sherratt for this piece was rejected by Andrew Bill and another version was commissioned which Andy prefered, unfortunately both versions were put on show at the Dragonsite show on the 15th of October 2006 and the vast majority of visitors prefered the first version so even though the factory had been told to go with the pink version it was quickly decided to change and to go with the black/silver/gold version instead.

Below are pictures of the original wax sculpture taken on the 5th of May 2006, there is still a lot of detail needed to be added at this point and the upper wings are not attached (but just visable behind the piece). I saw the wax at an even earlier stage but Andrew Bill wasn't happy with the look, it had a different head design, very similar but more horse like, because it was just an early version and Andy didn't like it he understandably didn't want photos of it.

The photos below show the second version. I think it was the pink that put some people off it but the main thing that people didn't like was the wings, it was thought that they lacked the definition that the black edging gave the first version. perhaps if we hadn't been shown both versions we wouldn't have minded the pink one because it is nice but when compared to the other one it was overlooked because everyone likes the black wing edges
