Giants and Ogres by Tom Raine
Gulliver
(This is an official photo, if you can help with more photos please email me)
Lemuel Gulliver was not a giant at all. He was an ordinary sized man created in the early 1700's by Jonathan Swift for his books of Gulliver's travels. He only SEEMED like a giant to his Lilliputians, the little people he met on the island of Lilliput where he became shipwrecked on one of his many travels. You see, Lilliputians were only five or six inches tall!!
Gulliver was a surgeon and became a ship's captain and a great explorer. His story is one of the greatest adventures of all time and one that has not faded with the passing of more than 250 years since it was written.
