EN2301 - Confrontation
CONFRONTATION
There is a secret cavern buried deep within the ragged walls of Dragongorge. A plummeting void that is called by the three Wizards: the Pit of Enlightenment. Only Fantazar, Orolan, Waxifrade and their closest followers know of the path that leads to this cavern of great trials: for it is within the darkness of the vast pit that the servants of the brotherhood have their strength and sorcery put to the ultimate test.
The benign title belies a place of fear and foreboding Once installed upon the lone pillar that rises from the cavern’s belly, the suppliant Wizard or Witch is subjected to the most terrifying ordeal. Responding to a signal from the Wizard masters, the deadly inhabitant of that dark place is roused from his slumber. Aznargen: the serpent dragon, stealthily unravels his coils and ascends the ancient pinnacle; a deadly scaled adversary spiralling towards his prey.
The Wizard Rothgilian, the subject of this particular perilous confrontation must banish his fear, command his nerve and steel himself to his task: the subjugation of the awesome Aznargen. With the power of his sorcery alone he must seize control of the dragon’s mind and arrest his bloodthirsty advance; for the creature angry from his rude awakening, has reached the frail form of his victim and has murder in his eyes.
As Aznargen savours the taste of Rothgilian, the Wizard must find the strength to overpower the dragon’s menace and with a soft song of sorcery lay him gently down to sleep once more. Only then will the new Wizard have proved himself worthy of the three Wizard’s trust and capable of taming the wrath of the mighty Guardians of the vessels to replenish the great chests of power with new crystals.
Naturally the Lords of the Seasons would never permit anyone to die at the jaws of Aznargen if they failed to subdue the great beast, but with a successful graduation from the Pit of Enlightenment the novice becomes a master, a High Wizard or Witch and is then fully prepared to face the next deadly confrontation with the Guardians of the Sacred Chamber.
