EN2316 - Craagnagar
Craagnagar
One artefact that had not been placed in the tomb, and of all the old wizards relics was the one that could truthfully be said to possess real power, was his staff. An ancient length of yox or ‘Wizards Oak’ carved with runes and enchanted symbols, rising to a carved horizontal dragon’s head in whose wooden jaws a beautiful power crystal was held. This potent rod was kept by Craagnagar ‘Old as Mountains’, an ancient and wise dragon revered by all who dwelt in the great gorge, and a former friend and confidant of Shadragora. The elder dragon had never fully shared the old wizard’s dream for the city that was to become Eyesand, but nevertheless had played his part in convincing the denizens of Dragongorge to give their consent to its construction. Craagnagar told the grieving Horcust of his own sorrow at Shadragora’s death, and that he believed the old wizard would eventually have named the young apprentice as his heir. The ancient dragon promised the youthful Horcust that if he proved himself worthy, then the staff and all the respect that had formerly been his master’s would one day be his. In the meantime the young wizard was named Dragonfriend and given leave to move freely within the dragon homeland. Many years passed before Horcust Rothlilian earned the right to hold the staff of Shadragora and call it his own. He had more than doubled his years since the building of the old wizard’s tomb, traversed most of Enchantica in all directions on all manner of perilous quests, survived the ultimate ordeal of the Pit of Enlightenment and the terrible Aznargen, consequently became a high Wizard, and was named Lord of Eddilee by the Three Wizards. On his eventual return to the ruins of Eyesand and the cliffs of Dragongorge, Craagnagar finally bestowed the title of Dragon Master upon him, and when he visited the tomb of he that had first borne that noble title, Throstle fell to his knees before the stone bier and was finally able to weep for his beloved master.
