Different Colour Schemes
Amateur Repaints and Paint-Your-Own pieces
The third type of different colour pieces are pieces that collectors have repainted themselves or have asked another collector to paint for them, these are obviously the least valuable pieces to other collectors (and are looked down upon by many collectors), they are special to the owners but resale value is not really going to be very high at all because other collectors want official pieces or professional repaints, so even though these can be really well done, they are not really of any value to anyone other than the person who painted them (or the person who got another collector to paint it for them).
Please note: Certain prestige pieces like 'Flight to Danger' & 'Avenger' are so rare in mint condition that I personally find even the thought of repainting such pieces as sacrilegious and it makes their value Zero! so I would always ask the person contemplating doing it to rethink what they are doing, and I will never put repainted versions of these on this website, the only concession would be if the piece was badly damaged and subsequently repaired. In this case I see no problem because the value of a broken piece would be very low so repainting it in different colours would be acceptable but i would need before and after photos to show why the owner of such a special piece felt the need to have it repainted in different colours.
