Below is
a step by step guide through the production of the piece.
PAGE TWO
The Moulds were made over the weekend (24th/25th of June 2006)
(All Photos on this page taken for me by Rob Simpson)
Firstly the
piece is "cottled" (a sleeve placed around the piece and sealed at
the base before the silicone rubber is poured in)
Then approx 24 hours later
when the rubber has set the wax is removed from the mould ready for the resin.
The sorry remains of the original wax sculpture
Resin is
poured into the mould
Once the
resin has cured (approx 30 - 40 minutes for this piece) the piece is removed
from the mould
The piece
comes out of the mould with a thick resin base that needs to be removed on a
belt sander
The Piece
is then "fettled" to remove a flashings and is tidied up
The Finished
Whites
Rob cast the very first white on the 26th and he sent me photos of the painted piece on the 27th.
