EN2165 - Infernos
INFERNOS
MIGHTY FIRETONGUE
Enchantica has seen many skirmishes and wars throughout the years. Many over land rights or rivalry between different tribes or races. To this day many an old battlefield is found by merchants or travellers whose victims remains still lie where they fell in battle.
Stories have been recalled by old warriors of a time of great conflict and honour and of a strange dragon that would appear at times of battle. Cloaked in the smoke of fires and dying sunlight it would just stand from afar and watch. Many believed in time it was a great demon of war, bringer of death, that had taken shape and was there for his own perverse pleasure.
In time this dragon became known as Infernos, a name meaning mighty firetongue, by a young unknown warrior from the clans of Glostomorg. To this day his story of what he had seen is told by many a hardened warrior and still it brings a deathly shiver to all who hear it.
“The battle had been won, many brave warriors had died that day. As I sat upon a small mound of charred grass I beg mercy upon my soul or what I was about to witness. From above the craggy cliffs came the roar of the terrible beast that had been watching us that day, floating down on demonic wings only to land on a pile of fallen warriors that we were unable to bury. The monster looked at its ground and with a swift and mighty intake of war stained air, belched forth a torrent of fire which turned the night into day incinerating all in its wake. The night returned once more. The air was now filled with the stench of burnt flesh and metal and from small fires I could see the demon feeding on the grizzly banquet around him.”
Infernos has now dwindled into the realms of legend, but how often is heard the saying in the heat of a violent argument, “May Infernos feed on your bones…”
