EN2253 - Mangra
MANGRA
Desert King
It is day 345, I have travelled non stop now under this piercing sun. After reaching a small oasis and my thirst now fully quenched, my sight doth behold a magnificent dragon, splenderous in desert colours and rich hues. Fearing for my safety I scrambled near some fallen masonry, a small fort must have stood here once, until a mighty voice sounded the air yet assuring me of my sanctuary.
Stood before me was Mangra, meaning Desert King if my old tongue translations are correct, greeted me with all the courtesy of a noble beast, he spoke of his kind, guarding the many water reserves from lesser dragons and pirates and to aid lone travellers, of good heart, to give guidance and aid. Many hours we spoke, and as the sun set, placed me upon his back and joined his brothers in flight to where the sand turns to soil.
My thanks Mangra… I will never forget thee.
Passage taken from the great book the unknown traveller.
