The complimentary forces of the Sun and Moon have dominated our lore and mythology for centuries. Our ancestors looked to the skies and saw the Sun, an eternal dazzling globe of light, the life-giver, bringing warmth and light to their world. It was seen as a generous benefactor lending its light to the Moon, which had no light of its own. The Sun was always the constant, the dependable force of the heavens, whereas the Moon, with its ever-changing face, is seen as the more mysterious of the two.
In the First book of Mages we read that some civilizations believed the Sun to be the eye of the gods, or even the eye of the world; a scared being that dwelled inside the earth when not in the sky, for was it not from the earth that is rose at dawn and returned at dusk? Great temples and tombs, even cities have been constructed in accordance with the Sun's movements across the sky. The lives of many peoples follow the passage of the Sun as close as any flower whose face is ever turned to the great golden eye.

This is one of a set of three pieces (Moonstruck & Starlight being the other 2) that can be bought as a set or as separate figures, for the first 30 days that the pieces were on sale, you could get the sets that have matching Numbers but it cost you more for the privilege It was first released in November 2002 when Andrew Bill did a tour of America and 112 sets were painted for the tour to be sold at the events, Andrew also painted a set at each show (12 sets in all) in a colour of his choice. The tour and production pieces are cast in white resin except for the 'Sun' logo which is in translucent orange resin - Andrew Bill painted a few pieces while on his 2002 tour of the U.S which were completely cast in translucent orange. Production pieces went on sale on the 1st of February 2003 with slightly different paintwork to the tour pieces |

Note that the production piece has a more orange base and has the edge of the wings and back spines painted gold, whereas the tour piece is dark brown, also the bottom of the wings at the back and the base are covered with glitter on the production piece (something I don't like at all) but are painted gold on the tour piece

Note that the Sun logo shown below is also white but the production run piece is actually orange translucent resin
