STARLIGHT
(Stella Lumen)

Stars, perhaps more than other astronomical signs, have always been closely associated with magic and sorcery: they appear at the tips of fairy wands, as magical talismans, as the background for enchanter's charts, as decoration for wizards' robes. The given form of the star (which is of course only an artist's impression of a bright point of twinkling light) is a potent symbol in the culture and theology of many diverse civilisations.

All the Books of Mages tell us that for many generations wizards and seers have used the constellations, the families of stars in the night sky, as navigators, oracles, spirit guides and a rich source of mythology. The jewels of the midnight skies form a vast, encyclopaedic atlas, containing secrets and mysteries of which only the Great Watchers, the mighty stargazing mages might guess.

OTHER INFORMATION

This is one of a set of three pieces (Moonstruck & Sunburst being the other 2) that can be bought as a set or as separate figures, for the first 30 days that the pieces were on sale, you could get the sets that have matching Numbers but it cost you more for the privilege

It was first released in November 2002 when Andrew Bill did a tour of America and 112 sets were painted for the tour to be sold at the events, Andrew also painted a set at each show (12 sets in all) in a colour of his choice.

The tour and production pieces are cast in white resin except for the 'Star' logo which is in translucent violet resin - Andrew Bill painted a few pieces while on his 2002 tour of the U.S which were completely cast in translucent violet.

Production pieces went on sale on the 1st of February 2003 with slightly different paintwork to the tour pieces

Below is the front and back view of the certificate that comes supplied with 'Starlight'

The pictures below show the production and special U.S. Tour pieces together
Note that the production piece has a more blue base and has the edge of the wings painted silver, also the Celtic pattern on the 'Star' is picked out in just silver whereas the tour version is in silver and gold. The base is also covered in glitter which I personally don't like

The American tour piece

The photos below are of the piece in it's unpainted 'White' stage

Note that the Star logo shown above is also white but the production run piece is actually translucent violet resin
