DRAGONETS

I gazed from my window one cold, wintry night
the moon cast it's glow of soft, silver light.
In the sparkled crisp branches of old trees, I spied
many-coloured winged things that circled and cried.
Swooping and soaring in spectral display
they filled me with wonder till the dawning of day,
seeking fine fare amidst foliage and leaves:
as Dragonets I know them - of food, they are thieves.

With the purest of pearls, they can be enticed:
to black shiny coals or shards of blue ice.
Kindle Redchar loves fire, Zero Brumal needs ice.
Musty tomes will attract them - even books are their vice!
After dark, please be patient: sit by your candle
while you await the arrival of one Lumous Darkle.

If you love them as I do, you may tempt them with fruit
or a bag full of almonds their palate might suit.
When you gaze from your window and the moon casts it's  glow,
it's patience you'll need - will the Dragonets show?

These were the first Dragon figures I ever collected after spotting them in a shop in Fort William in 1991 and they are to blame for my whole obsession with collecting Fantasy figures, I'm not usually impressed with brightly coloured dragons but these are different to me and when I saw the bookends I was instantly hooked and that started my love of Dragons and books (the same reason I love Andrew Bill's verbuMMagus range, especially 'Incantation') and even today I still like them and if they were still made by Genesis today, I feel that I would still collect them.

In my personal opinion the large bookends are the finest fantasy bookends ever to have been created, they are wonderful pieces of art that have yet to be bettered.

After the take over by Clarecraft they also made some of their own 'Dragonets' but none were sculpted by Carol, they also created a small range called 'Dragon Shenanigans' under the Genesis Creations Banner and also released the 'Home Dragons' as a final attempt to remarket some of the original pieces and some of there own versions
